Anthony Waltemeyer, 15, of Marshalltown, died late Thursday night, May 27th, at the Blank Childrens Hospital in Des Moines. His death came peacefully at 11:15 p.m. with his loving family at his side after a year long battle with cancer. Funeral services for Anthony will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 1st, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Please honor his memory by wearing casual clothes- shorts and t-shirts are preferred. He will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. A time of fellowship will follow the burial at the funeral home. Born on January 22nd, 1995, in Iowa City, Iowa, he was the son of Roger and Carolyn Carrie (Hartwig) Waltemeyer. He was currently a freshman at MHS and had played football and basketball for Miller School until his health prohibited. He loved his family and friends, playing football and fishing, going camping with his cousin, playing video games with friends and hanging out. He recently was visited in the hospital by Ricky Stanzi of the University of Iowa Hawkeye Football and the Iowa Barnstormers. Left to cherish his life are his father Roger Waltemeyer of Marshalltown, mother Carolyn Carrie Waltemeyer of Marshalltown, grandma Shirley Waltemeyer of Marshalltown, twin siblings Michael and Shannon at home, great-grandma Vera Hall of Marshalltown, grandma Joan Hartwig of Osage Beach, MO, his dads dog Bo and numerous other cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. In death, he was rejoined with his grandpa David Waltemeyer, uncle Dwayne Waltemeyer, grandpa Donald Hartwig and great-grandparents Orie and Doris Whitmore.
