Norma Good Obituary

NORMA ARLENE GOOD Norma Arlene Good, 90, of Martin, South Dakota passed away Saturday, November 18, 2017 in the presence of family. She was born on October 30, 1927 at Headlee Ranch, South Dakota to Norman and Sarah (Rose) Bond. Norma was one of eight children, growing up in the Potato Creek area and attending school there. She married her husband of 55 years, Harold Good, on May 24, 1946 and together they began farming and ranching life in Bennett County, South Dakota. She and Harold worked as a team to accomplish any task at hand. In 1962, they bought their current home in north central Bennett County. Norma resided there until her death. To this union two children were born, Donna and James. Norma enjoyed living the open country life. She meticulously worked in her yard and garden every summer and was very proud. The bountiful harvest from her garden was used to prepare scrumptious meals that she enjoyed sharing with family and friends. She always had homemade goodies and coffee ready for anyone who stopped by. We will lovingly remember her every time that we look at the beautiful crocheting and stitchery that fills all of our homes. Her family was her pride and joy. In her later years she learned to use the computer and did extensive genealogy research creating amazing family history albums. What a special gift to her family. She was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 56 years. She served as an election clerk and volunteered at the Community Action. Norma is survived by her daughter Donna and husband James Hicks of Elizabeth, Colorado and her son James and wife Jennifer Good of Martin, South Dakota. Her grandchildren are Kip and wife Kim Hicks of Elizabeth, Colorado; Kenneth and wife Kim Hicks of Elizabeth, Colorado; Adam Good of Madison, South Dakota; and Cameron Good of Martin, South Dakota. She has three great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters and one brother; Dorothy Petrik, Martin, South Dakota; Bonnie Stethem of Rapid City, South Dakota; and Robert Bond of Rapid City, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, her parents, three brothers Wesley, Donald and Lowell and one sister Marilyn Embree. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the American Legion in Martin, South Dakota.
