<p>Jonathan Quinn Morton joined his loved ones in heaven on February 3, 2023, after fighting poor health for decades. God has now ended his suffering.&nbsp; </p><p>He was born on March 18, 1959, in American Fork, Utah, as the third son of Dale Loren Morton and Loree Cardon Morton.&nbsp; </p><p>Jonathan's schooling included Lindon Elementary and Central Elementary, where Jonathan received a Certificate of Attendance for regularity and punctuality of attendance, neither absent nor tardy without excuse, during the term ending November 1964. He also attended Pleasant Grove Junior High where he received an Honor Award in Science in May 1973.&nbsp;&nbsp;He wrote this in his journal: "In junior high, I was being taught how to play basketball. I was uncoordinated. I never learned how to play right (shooting, jumping and rebounding). I could defend just perfect. I was never very good in sports. Later in high school, I was a lot more greater." </p><p>He completed the Hunter Safety Training Course in November 1972. </p><p>During Jonathan's years at Pleasant Grove High School he focused on studying hard, also attending Seminary. He graduated and received his diploma in May 1977, which included being a member of the National Honor Society. He furthered his education by attending Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, graduating in April 1982 with an Associate in Arts and Sciences. He then transferred to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, continuing his studies in geology.&nbsp; </p><p>Jonathan was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He received a Duty to God Award in June 1977.&nbsp;&nbsp;He served as a missionary in the California Oakland Mission from December 1978 to December 1980. </p><p>He enjoyed a few hobbies of stamp collecting, doing family history, jigsaw puzzles, word search puzzles, and scrapbooking.&nbsp; </p><p>In the summer of 1981, Jonathan secured a job working at Zions National Park lodge and was able to sightsee the beautiful nature in surrounding areas.&nbsp; </p><p>In February 2005, he received a diploma from Thomas Education Direct for successful completion of its TV/VCR Repair Technician program and received a certificate of completion from Easter Seals Utah for retail skills training in March 2005. </p><p>Jonathan is preceded in death by his grandparents Joseph Phillip Cardon and wife Anna Marie Rothlisberger Cardon and Robert Nephi Morton and wife Harriet Olive Newell Morton; his parents Dale Loren Morton and Loree Cardon Morton; brother William Dana Morton; and three nephews, Ryan Loren Morton, Paul Allen Morton, and Jeromy Dale Morton.&nbsp; </p><p>He is survived by his brother Loren Boyd Morton and sister-in-law Rachael Ann Roberts Morton; niece Melissa Ann Morton Ritz and husband Stephen Mark Ritz; brother Allen Joseph Morton and sister-in-law JoLynn Arns Morton; sister Malinda Morton McCue and brother-in-law Dennis Patrick McCue; niece Erin McCue Kellar and husband Bradley Dustin Kellar; sister-in-law Teresa Ann Frederick Morton, nephews Anthony William Morton and Alex Jason Morton, and niece Tianna Mei Morton; sister Daneen Morton Coulson and husband Mark Gerald Coulson, nieces Adriana Laree Coulson and Brynn Joanne Coulson Harris and husband Seth Andrew Harris; and nephews Coen Mark Coulson and Davin Ryan Coulson.&nbsp; </p><p>We are grateful to all staff members of Utah Valley Hospital for their tender care over Jonathan. He wanted everyone to know how much he appreciated your service to him.&nbsp; </p><p>In lieu of flowers, if anyone wants to contribute to his headstone, donations are welcome.&nbsp; </p><p>A viewing will be held Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 12:00 -12:45 pm in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Grove Ward Relief Society Room, 455 East 200 South, Pleasant G rove.&nbsp; A celebration of Jonathan’s life will follow in the cultural hall at 1:00 pm where there will be sharing of memories.&nbsp; Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.&nbsp; Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com. </p>
