He graduated from Grenfell High School in 1948 and moved to Whitewood, following his parents. Bill worked at many jobs, including the telephone crew and Whitewood Motors. In 1953, he started farming and spent winters working with seismic crews in Saskatchewan and Alberta.</p><p><br></p><p>In 1964, Bill married Carol Ann Mortenson. Bill and Carol farmed until 1984 when they moved into Whitewood, where Bill worked for the Whitewood Hotel and the Town of Whitewood until his retirement. Bill’s wish was to have a quiet retirement in Whitewood but, always a farmer at heart, he took great joy in his large town garden.</p><p><br></p><p>Bill was predeceased by his parents, Sam and Bertha; sisters and brothers-in-law Alvina (Lou) Hanson and Margaret (David) Ripley; and step-grandson Jordan. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol; son Donald (Tina) Stewart of Yellowknife and granddaughter Destiny.</p>
