Virginia Fay Cook Obituary

Virginia Fay Baker Cook passed away on January 29, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Colonel Fletcher Monroe Cook Jr; mother Faye Camble; and sister Betty Pomeroy. She is survived by her two sisters, Janice Caldwell and Nancy Godsey; two sons, Randy Cook and Wayne Cook; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Cook was born in Alabama on December 4, 1932. Married in May 1954 to Monroe Cook. Her proudest achievement was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She travelled extensively as an Air Force Wife. Virginia began her career as a nurse, obtained her masters degree in education, and spent the remainder of her career teaching science for gifted children. Mrs. Cook enjoyed spending time gardening, painting, fishing, music, but most importantly spending time with her family.

There will be a brief gathering of family and friends at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama, to lay Mrs. Cook to rest with her husband, Monroe Cook, on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 2:00pm.
