Lillian Cox Griffin

Mrs. Lillian Cox Griffin, 75, passed away Sunday (January 29, 2023) at her residence in Waycross following a short illness.

She was born in Homerville, GA to the late Ira Estelle Cox and Macey Lucille Griffin Cox. She was employed with various sewing factories in the area but had most recently worked as a dietician at Memorial Drive Elementary School. She was also a member of Swamp Road Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, William “Monroe” Griffin; and four siblings, Emory Cox, Mary Griffin, Charlie Cox, and Iris Williams.

She is survived by a daughter, Lucy Griffin Morgan (Rex) of Manor; three sons, Curtis Griffin (Ashlee) of Waycross, Richard “Fritz” Griffin (Teresa) of Waycross, and Rob Griffin (Devora) of Statesboro; ten grandchildren, Eevy Griffin, Maggie Morgan Herndon (Clayton), David Griffin, Amy Griffin (Dereck DeLoach), Renee Griffin Cox (Rex), Robbie Griffin, Teddy Griffin, Billy Griffin, Nathan Wise (Holly), and Brandon Wise; three great grandchildren, Silas Herndon, Paisley Wise, and Emma Griffin; six brothers, Fred Cox (Ruby), Tom Cox (Patricia), Kenneth Cox (Euna Mae), George Cox (Wendy), Billy Cox (Debra), and Jerry Cox (Krystal); two sisters, Sue Strickland and Delma Bennett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (February 1, 2023) at Swamp Road Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Kettle Creek Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday evening at Music Funeral Home from 5 until 7 o’clock.
