Susan Roberts Blanton

Susan Marie Roberts Blanton, 63, of Rockingham, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.

She was born April 16, 1959, daughter of the late Elizabeth Campbell Bowman.

Susan enjoyed the beach and was an excellent housewife. She and her husband, Lawrence, enjoyed forty-five years of marriage. Some of her most precious times were spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother; brothers, Charles Bowman and Allen Hunsucker; and sisters, Lisa Bowman and Cathy Bowman.

Susan is survived by her husband, Lawrence Blanton of the home; sons, Brian Blanton of North Wilkesboro and Buddy Blanton (Kristin) of Rockingham; grandchildren, Kelsie Blanton, McKayla Blanton, David Blanton, and Devin Blanton; brothers, Rick Hunsucker (Marilyn) and Mike Bowman (Barbara), all of Rockingham; sister, Faye Mauldin (James) of Hamlet; mother-in-law, Helen Staton of Rockingham; brother-in-law, Jeff Blanton (Tammy) of Hamlet; sister-in-law, Denise McKenzie (Malcolm) of Rockingham; and her two special dogs, Boots and Roscoe.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 2:00-3:00pm at Southside Free Will Baptist Church.

The funeral will immediately follow the visitation at the church at 3:00pm with Rev. Charles Leviner officiating. Burial will follow at Northam Cemetery.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Susan’s mother-in-law, 124 Forrest Drive, Rockingham.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 N. US Highway 1, Rockingham, NC 28379.
