Walter Dale Knighton, 79 of Newton passed away Tuesday January 24, 2023 at Harbor Hospice in Jasper. 

Funeral service will be 2 pm Saturday January 28, 2023 at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Sand Ridge cemetery in Newton County.   Visitation will be 5-8 pm Fuday, January 27. 

Born December 12, 1943 to Edwin Knighton and Josie (Love) he lived most of his life in Newton.   He served in the Army and later worked in a shipyard.

He is survived by wife, Betty Knighton of Bleakwood; children, Clint Knighton of Fawil, Larry Knighton and Dede of Fawil, Connie Henley and Nathan of Bon Wier, Paul Knighton and Tina of Baytown, Tonya Meche of Bleakwood; brother, Clarence Knighton of San Antonio, sisters, Geraldine Lewis of North Carolina, Sherrell Nichols of Old Salem; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Knighton and Roy Gene Knighton; granddaughter, Brandy Brumley; grandson, Tucker Jones.
