Harvey Lee Harris Sr., 83, a long-time resident of Pottstown, passed away peacefully at his home in Reading, PA on Sunday, January 22, 2023.

Born in Stem, North Carolina, Harvey was the son of the late Willie Joe and Catherine (Cooper) Harris.  When Harvey was 6 years of age, the family relocated to Pottstown, where he entered the Pottstown School District and completed his studies in the public school system.  At a young age, Harvey knew he loved the Lord and wanted to be a Christian.  During tent ministries, Harvey was baptized by the late Reverend Heywood L. Butler and became a member of the Second Baptist Church of Pottstown, where he enjoyed listening to the preaching and singing.

As an adult, Harvey enjoyed working with his hands on various construction sites.  He was also employed by Doehler Jarvis, Superior Concrete, and ultimately retired from Stanley G. Flagg, of Stowe, PA.  Harvey kept himself physically fit through weightlifting regimens, was very stylish and well-groomed, and maintained an easygoing demeanor.

Growing up in Pottstown, Harvey developed a love for muscle cars, riding motorcycles, and watching western movies.  His proudest moments were talking about his children, laughing with his brothers, and spending time with extended family and friends.  His joy could be felt through his infectious smile.

To cherish his memory, Harvey is survived by a son, Scott Harris of Pottstown; daughter, Andrea Neal of Magnolia, DE; 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by one sister, Lueveina (Harris) Blakey, wife of the late Harry Blakey Sr. of Pottstown; brother, Samuel Harris Sr., husband of Marietta of Douglassville; and brother, Willie G. Harris, husband of Patricia in Pottstown; an aunt, Ora Thorpe wife of Wallace Thorpe: and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Harvey was predeceased by one son, Harvey Lee Harris, Jr.; twin brother, Carvey Lee Harris, the late husband of Rev. Georgiana C. Harris; brother, Wallace Harris, the late husband of Nancy Harris (deceased); brother, Sherman Harris; sister, Brenna Hicks, the late wife of Charles Hicks; and stepfather, James Harris.

Homegoing services will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023, at the Second Baptist Church, located at 507 North Adams Street in Pottstown.  Friends and family will be received at 9 AM and the homegoing services will begin at 11 AM.   The interment will be held at the Limerick Memorial Gardens in Limerick, PA.
