It is with tremendous sadness we announce the sudden yet peaceful passing of Jean Gloria Kean nee Thistle age 78 years, our cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend on Thursday, January 19, 2023, in the presence of her loving family.

Predeceased by her parents: Stephen and Gertrude Thistle and sister Sylvia Spurrell.

Leaving with treasured memories and a heart full of love, her devoted husband and best friend of 57 years Wince Kean; loving children: Lynn Kean, Winston (Jodine) Kean and Cynthia (Greg) Hynes; precious grandchildren Katelyn (Charity), Nicole and Holly Careen, Taeler Kean and Justin (Julie), Emily (Mitch) and Connor (Megan) Hynes; dear great grandchild: Michelle Colbourne; sisters: Elizabeth (John) Heatley and Brenda (Ray) Rowlands; brothers: John (Sharon), Brian (Betty), Clarence (Bev) Thistle, nieces, nephews, extended family and a large circle of friends.

Jean will always be remembered for her great love of family. Her grandchildren meant everything to her. She loved to spend time with them and offered much guidance, support, and love. She had a great sense of humour and always had a positive attitude no matter what she was faced with throughout her life. We will also remember Jean’s love for her garden and flowers. Our family will hold our memories in our hearts forever.

Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Paramedics, Doctors, Nurses, and staff of the Health Science Centre Emergency, Operating Room, and the ICU. Your patience, counsel, compassion and care that was shown to our family will never be forgotten.

At Jean’s request cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home 73 Commonwealth Ave. on Sunday, January 22, 2023, from 2:00 -4:00pm and 7:00 -9:00 pm.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023, at 2:00 pm from Barrett’s Mount Pearl Chapel.
