John "Bill" Morello, Sr.

<p>John W. “Bill” Morello Sr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery in E. Norriton, PA. He was 100 years old. Mr. Morello was a resident of W. Norriton, PA. He attended Holy Saviour School and A.D. Eisenhower High School, graduating in 1941. Upon graduation, John enlisted in the US Army and was deployed overseas from Fort Bragg, NC. He was a member of the 13th Forward Observation Battalion serving in WW II. During his time of service, he was in five major battle campaigns including the Invasion of Normandy, Battle of the Bulge, Crossing the Rhine River, Battle of Hurtgen Forest and the Siegfried Line.</p><p><br></p><p>When Bill returned home from the war he married his high school sweetheart, Angeline, and they were married for over 50 years. They resided in Upper Merion and later in W. Norriton. Bill worked in the family construction business and later for the Operating Engineers Union where he operated heavy machinery. He loved going to work but retired early at the age of 60 to enjoy more time with his family. Bill was a member of Visitation B.V.M. Church in Trooper, PA, and was very involved with several Veteran organizations. He served as commander of the Disabled American Veterans for over 25 years, belonged to the American Legion, Battle of the Bulge and Catholic War Veterans. Bill and his wife were honored by the Chapel of the Four Chaplains. Bill loved spending time with his family.</p><p><br></p><p>Born in Norristown, PA on October 16, 1922, he was a son of the late Thomas and Josephine (Zummo) Morello; and the husband of the late Angeline P. Morello, who died in 1998. Surviving is his loving family including two sons, John W. “Billy” Morello, Jr. and his wife, Debbie and Dennis J. Morello and his wife, Tracey; five grandchildren: Debbie, Tina, Tracy, Christopher and Kimberly; six great-grandchildren: Zachary, Lucas, Sophia, Layla, Logan and Karly; and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by five brothers: Russell, Anthony “Nino”, Joseph, Phillip and Thomas; and three sisters: Mary Makoid, Rose Carfagno and Anna Morello.</p><p><br></p><p>Relatives and friends are invited to Bill’s viewing at Visitation BVM Church, 196 N. Trooper Road, Trooper, PA on Monday, January 23, 2023 from 9:30 to 10:45 am; with his Funeral Mass starting at 11:00 am.
