Nellie Mae Hux Bailey, 85, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023.

She was born in Aurelian Springs, NC on July 17, 1937 to the late, Sterling Audrania Hux and Clara Bertha Warren Hux. She was also preceded in death by her son, Thomas “Tommy” Sterling Bailey; her sisters, Hazel Dickens, Betty Moseley and Alice Roberta Louise Hux; her brothers, S.A. Hux Jr., J.B. Hux, Albert Hux, Cecil Hux and Herman Hux.

Nellie is survived by her three daughters, Kimberly B. Evans and Rusty Cline of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Sherri B. Wheeler and husband, Brian of Hampton, VA and Paula B. Beach and husband, Troy of Roanoke Rapids, NC; her former husband and loving caregiver, Paul Bailey; her nine, grandchildren, Justin Clary, Megan Clary, Hunter Bailey, Holly Soles and her husband, Michael, Ronnie Wheeler and his wife, Anna-Kate, Sierra Wheeler, Brandon Batten and his wife, Jessica, Ashlyn Beach and Kahlyn Beach; her nine great-grandchildren, Bryce Soles, Haley Soles, Emily Soles, Layla Wheeler, Emerson Taylor, Cole Clary, Cambree Batten, Lilly Wheeler and Sadie Mae Batten and her special Nephew Jimmy Moseley of Roanoke Rapids.

Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Askew Funeral & Cremation Services on Tuesday, January 17, 2022 at 2 :00 PM with Rev. Randy Martin officiating.

Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, NC.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 12:30 until service time.

Pallbearers will be Justin Clary, Hunter Bailey, Brandon Batten, Ronnie Wheeler, Michael Soles and Bryce Soles.
