SHAWN GRACEY Obituary

Shawn Robert Gracey, 50, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2023. He was born on March 9, 1972, in Delhi, NY to the late Margaret Ann (Gracey) Marrero. Shawn was a resident of Holyoke, MA for most of his life and recently lived in Springfield, MA. From being an Alter Boy and making his first Communion and Confirmation, Shawn stayed true to his Catholic foundation and loved going to church every Sunday. Shawn attended Holyoke High School and later joined the Army at the early age of 19. He worked at Loomis House in the custodial department for many years. Shawn was always a hard worker no matter what position he held. Shawn was a loving father to his two beautiful children, Jaylen Gracey from South Hadley, MA, Jordan Gracey from Chicopee, MA, and to his stepson Matthew Zaldivar from Longmeadow, MA. Shawn is also survived by his Father Epifanio Garcia from Holyoke and his 5 siblings, Epifanio Jr and his wife Miosoti Garcia of CT, Magdelena Marrero-Feliciano and her husband Luis of Holyoke, Moises Garcia and his wife Rosa of Feeding Hills, MA, Sarah Garcia of South Hadley, and Racquel Garcia of Holyoke. He was a caring nephew to his Aunt Coral and Charles Shaddock of Chicopee, his uncle Peter Wager of Delancey, NY, and Juan and Deborah Alejandro of CT. In addition to the late Robert Wager of Paden City, WV, and the late Ervin Wager of Delancey. He will be truly missed by his many nieces and nephews, Dimitrius, Onix Jr, Anastazia, Justice, Isabella, Emily Ann, Aiden, Ariana, Annie, Miofania, Haven, Macho, Avery and Taevian. Shawn absolutely loved spending time with his family and always looked forward to the summer when he would visit his grandmother, the late Emily Gracey and Grandfather Russell Wager in Delancey. We will cherish the fond memories we shared together catching fireflies, jumping off the bridge to go swimming, sleeping outside in our tents and all the many cookouts we have spent together. Everyone who knew Shawn knew he loved his NY Yankees and NY Giants.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Kidney Foundation, 1191 Rockville Pike, suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852.
