<p>HOULTON - Josephine McGillicuddy Curry, born October 11, 1923 in Canterbury, New Brunswick, Canada, died peacefully on January 10 in her 100th year surrounded by loved ones. The daughter of William J. and</p><p>Margaret (Collins) McGillicuddy, Jo graduated from Madigan Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1944. She worked as a registered nurse at Madigan Memorial Hospital, where she met her future husband while he was a patient. Jo and Lou were married on June 17, 1946 at St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church in Houlton, Maine. As a devout parishioner, she was a frequent communicant, served as a Eucharistic Minister along with Lou, was a long time member of the Houlton Council of Catholic Women, and was involved in the parish Bereavement Committee. Jo volunteered in several capacities, including the opening of a library at St. Mary's School and assisting in the gift shop at Houlton Regional Hospital. She was proud to become a naturalized US citizen in 1952. She enjoyed family first and foremost, being a homemaker, and raising her children. She was fiercely proud of her Irish heritage and traveled twice to Ireland with Lou, several siblings, and son Terry to sightsee and trace her roots. Jo is survived by children, Rev. Terrence W. Curry, SJ, of Weston, MA; Susan Conlogue of Pittsford, NY; Ellen Libby (Matt) of Castle Hill, ME; Michael (Lucille) of Millis, MA; and Anne Curry-Smith (Mark) of Mentor, OH; five grandchildren, Sara (Conlogue) Tuccio and husband Michael; Alison (Libby) Winslow and husband Tim; Matthew J. Libby; Caroline (Curry) Douville and husband Matthew; and Thomas Curry and wife Alyssa; great-grandchildren Jack Tuccio, Kayla Libby, Molly Tuccio, Parker Libby, Laurelai Winslow, Charley Libby, Thomas Douville, Gabrielle Douville, James Douville, and Shea Curry; sisters-in-law Joanne McGillicuddy, Elaine McGillicuddy, and Dianne Curry; brother-in-law Philip (Polly) Curry; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and several great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Louis; infant daughter Jane; grandson Joseph; siblings Mary Dever, Charles, Louis, Francis, and Con. Jo and her family express their sincere gratitude to the community of St. Mary's Church, Dr. Hassan Abouleish and Madigan Estates staff, Houlton Regional Hospital caregivers, and special thanks to Rose Levesque, who assisted Jo and her family in various ways over many years. Visitation will begin 10 AM Monday, January 16, at St. Mary of the Visitation Church, 112 Military Street, Houlton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon with Fr. George E. Collins, SJ officiating.
