MAMOU – Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, for Theresa Burna Jane Smith, 86, who passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023, with her loving family by her side.

Father Billy Massie will be celebrants of the Mass and conduct funeral services.

Burial will take place in Reed Cemetery.

Theresa Burna Jane Smith was born on February 4, 1936 in Ville Platte, LA to the late Marshal and Gladys LeBas Guillory.  She worked as a nurse for over 60 years.  She was an artist and expert seamstress.  She enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to her garden. Her family will miss her dearly.

She leaves behind her loving family; sons, Nicky Smith and wife, Nedra of Lafayette and Josh Smith and wife, Regina of New Iberia; daughter, Marla Smith Landry and husband, Donny of Lafayette; grandchildren, Jeremy Smith (Heather), Kristy Smith Foret (Jeremy), Jacob Thibodeaux (Katy), Chase Thibodeaux, Jeremiah Guillory (Natalie), Renee Guillory; and great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Isabella, Jackson, Addison, Connor, Kevin, Kameron, Emma Kate, Emerson, Eleanor, and Greyson; and sister, Deanne Joy Ardoin.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Alton Smith; parents, Marshal and Gladys LeBas Guillory; sister, Gertrude Soileau; and great-granddaughter, Sydney Roye Smith.

At the request of the family, visitation will be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A rosary will be led by Deacon Chuck at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will resume on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 8:00 AM until 9:15 AM.
