Loretta "Ann" Cordell

<p>Loretta Ann (Lantz) Cordell age 84 of Redding, Iowa, died peacefully on January 9, 2023, after a long bout with COPD.</p><p>Ann was born January 13, 1938, in Redding, Iowa, to Vernon William and Lorene Freda Norris Lantz. With the exception of a few years in California during the War, Ann grew up in Redding, graduating from Redding High School in 1955.</p><p>Faith was important to Ann. She grew up in the Assembly of God Church in Redding where she was an active member.</p><p>In May 1955, she married Howard Junior Spencer. They made their home in Bedford, Iowa, where they raised their four children – Melanie, Gayla, Eugene, and Roberta.</p><p>In September 1976 Ann married Donald Dean Cordell of Bedford. After a few years in the Redding area, they moved to eastern Nebraska where they lived until returning to Redding in 2013.</p><p>Ann enjoyed her flower beds, gardening, cooking, crocheting, playing the piano, reading, and playing board games - especially rousing games of Scrabble. Over the years, she worked at various jobs, eventually retiring after several years at 3M in Valley, NE. Ann was the first licensed female truck driver for Hunt Transportation in 1976. Ann drove semi-trucks for fifteen years, earning various awards. She traveled all the lower 48 states and several Canadian provinces.</p><p>Ann was preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Lorene Lantz, sister Ila Livingston, and granddaughter Cynthia Marshall.</p><p>She is survived by her husband Donald Cordell of Redding, IA, her four children: Melanie Spencer (Susan Anderson) of Duluth, MN, Gayla Moreau of LaPorte, IN, Eugene “Gene” (Cheryl) Spencer of Oskaloosa, IA, and Roberta “Burt” (Steve) Delperdang of Crescent, IA. In addition, Ann had 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.</p><p>She is also survived by five stepchildren Donna, Peggi, Ed, Pam, and Donny along with a number of step-grandchildren.</p><p>We take comfort in knowing that you are now in the presence of our gracious God.</p><p>You will be missed.</p><p><br></p><p>Memorials are to the United Baptist Presbyterian Church.</p>
