Beulah Hartman

<p>On June 16, 1924, Beulah L. was born to Frank and Loretta Patterson Parkis in Guthrie County, Iowa. The family was later joined by a brother Robert. Moving from that farm to Adair County as a small child, she attended rural school. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1941. She worked at a dairy in Greenfield that bottled milk and sold in around the community.</p><p>She met Jack E. Hartman and later married him on October 14, 1942. To this union were born 2 children, Richard and Linda. While living in Adair County, Beulah helped Jack on the farm and worked in town. In 1959 the family moved to Mount Ayr. She did the bookkeeping for Jack when he ran the Phillips 66 station. She trained at the Grant City, Missouri Cap Factory until the factory opened in Mount Ayr where she worked for 17 years. In 1983 she began working at the hospital and remained until her retirement in 1990.</p><p>Beulah enjoyed bowling, dancing, playing cards and crocheting. Beulah was known for her love of sweets. Her children, grandchildren, daughter-in-law, and great grandchildren brought her great joy and pride. Her home was always open to her friends and the friends of her children, some of whom called her “Mom”.</p><p>Beulah passed away January 7, 2023, at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr. Preceding her in death were her parents, brother, son Richard in 1980 and husband Jack in 2013.</p><p>Left with their warm memories are her daughter Linda Hartman (Mount Ayr), daughter-in-law Nancy Hartman (Mount Ayr), grandsons Brad Hartman (Ankeny) and Tom Hartman (Des Moines), great grandchildren Cambri Hartman (Des Moines), Karlie Hartman (Ankeny) and Kellen Hartman (Ankeny), sister-in-law Jo Parkis (Stuart), nephews Denny Parkis and wife (Fontanelle), Jeff Parkis (Alaska) and Bobbi Parkis (Houston, Texas).&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>Memorials will go to the American Legion Auxiliary where she was a 76-year member.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
