Wesley "Bud" Spreda Obituary

Wesley Robert Spreda, also known as "Bud", age 92, of Stevens Point, Wisconsin died on January 3, 2023 at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital.


Wesley was born on June 16, 1930 to the late Jerome & Margaret "Pam" (Drabes) Spreda in Stevens Point, WI. He attended St Stephen Catholic Grade School and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School . Wesley went on to attend Central State Teachers College, now known as UW-Stevens Point, where he began to study for a major in Pharmacy. While in college; Wesley was called to serve with the U.S. Army in the Korean War. Wesley was honorably discharged in 1953 with the rank of Corporal. Wesley married Audrey M. Smrz on September 12, 1955 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Junction City, WI.


Wesley worked as a Paper Tester/Laboratory Technician at Consolidated Papers for 41 years.


Wesley was an avid sports fan. Wesley dearly, truly loved the Packers, Badgers, Brewers, & Bucks. Wesley and Audrey were long time season ticket holders with the UW-Madison Badger Football program. Wesley shared his seats with all of his family members over the years. Wesley and his kids attended the Rose Bowl Game and the Rose Parade in 1994 to see the Wisconsin Badgers march to victory over UCLA. Wesley was a member of American Legion Post 6 and Holy Spirit Parish.


Wesley is survived by his wife Audrey. Wesley is also survived by 3 children; Susan Spreda-Creek (Richard Creek) of Waukesha, WI; Mark (Karen) Spreda of Plover; and Dr. Sarah Spreda-Storck (Bret Storck) of Frisco, TX. Wesley is further survived by niece, Betsy Laessig-Stary (Scott Stary) of Madison WI. Wesley is also survived by grandniece Samantha Jo Stary and grand nephews, Tristan and Alexander Stary, all of Madison WI.


Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome & Margaret Spreda. Wesley is also preceded in death by sisters Shirley Bretzel; Joan Laessig; and brothers-in-law Louis Bretzel and Dr. Ronald Laessig.


A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Holy Spirit Parish with Rev. Steve Brice officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Burial with full military honors will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
