Irvin M. Appel Elmira, New York Obituary

Irvin M. Appel

<p>After enjoying life for 93 years, Irvin M. Appel passed away peacefully on 12/28/2022 in Palm Beach, Florida. Although he might be best remembered for his sense of humor, Irv truly had many other admirable attributes. His intelligence, communication skills and work ethic enabled him to succeed as an officer in the Air Force and as an executive at Thatcher Glass. His generous soul, commitment to community and compassion resulted in his not only being elected to many local boards, but also to his receiving honors on a state level (NYS Sr. Citizen of the Year) and internationally by the Materials Management Society. Due to his creativity, he was awarded several patents and also had the pleasure of seeing his paintings grace the walls in the homes of family and friends. Surpassing all his other accomplishments, however, was the success Irv achieved as a parent, a grandparent and a friend. By example he taught how to live a courageous life, how to find joy in simple things and how to live every day with love. Irv was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Muriel Kaplow Appel. He will live forever in the hearts of his daughters and sons-in-love: Joan Appel (Bill Reilly), Sheri Appel Masse (Michael Masse); and his grandchildren: David Masse (Jenna Friedman Masse) and Jennifer Masse (Matt Starr). A GRAVESIDE SERVICE WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 4TH, 2023, AT 11:30AM IN FRANKLIN STREET CEMETERY, ELMIRA; RABBI DR. OREN Z. STEINITZ OFFICIATING. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Irv may do so via a contribution to: Hospice of Palm Beach County Gerstenberg Center, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407 or Congregation Kol Ami, 1008 W.
