Obituary

It is with profound sadness that I announce the sudden passing of my mother, Arlene, the most loving,

amazing, beautiful Mother, Little Grandma, Daughter, Sister, Auntie, Auntie Grandma and Friend.

Arlene was born, raised and attended school in Cudworth, SK. She enrolled at Marvel Hairdressing

School and upon her graduation began her career at the Wakaw Beauty Salon. In 2001, after 24 years of employment, Arlene purchased the salon and continued to make everyone feel their most beautiful whether they were patrons, residents of Lake View Pioneer Lodge or numerous friends and family. In 2020, she retired to spend more time with her adored grandchildren watching them play extracurricular activities and taking them to Batoche during the summer months where she had just started a seasonal job – a visit to the historic site will showcase several of her perennials throughout the gardens. If Arlene wasn’t spending time with her grandchildren, she was delegating chores to her son-in-law, being her parent’s gopher, enjoying hours of endless laughter with her siblings, playing Kaiser with friends, and perfecting her green thumb. Words cannot express the hole that she leaves behind as she was a constant source of strength and support. Arlene loved life and travel. She will be remembered for her offbeat humor and generous soul.

Arlene leaves to mourn her daughter, Chantelle Clark (Jon) and her prized grandchildren, Abigail and Jack; her parents Wilbert and Lorraine Young, Siblings Elaine Boutin (Laurie Code), Norma Hauber (Brad), Marilyn Cherneski (Harvey), Larry Young (Glenda) and Denise Habetler (Greg); 14 nieces and nephews and 8 great nieces and nephews; as well as a tight group of friends. The Funeral Service will be held at the St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church in Wakaw on Friday, December 30, at 2022 at 11:00 am, with Rev. Fr. Matthew Nguyen officiating. Donations in memory of Arlene may be directed to the Lakeview Pioneer Lodge. The family would like to thank her friends who assisted, the staff of Wakaw Ambulance Service, STARS, and the trauma and ICU units of the RUH.
