Armando Cantu, Sr.

Armando Cantu, Sr., age 71, of Wayne, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Bowling Green, Ohio. He was born on September 6, 1951, in Mercedes, Texas to the late Jose & Maria (Guerra) Cantu, Sr. Armando married Christina Cardenas in 1975 at the Wayne Church of Christ, and they later divorced.

Surviving Armando are his children, Carmella (Craig) Turnow of Lindsey, Amanda Cantu of Fostoria, Armando Cantu, Jr. of Fostoria, Marjorie M. Cantu of Defiance; longtime companion, Mary Rader; grandchildren, Cameron Balderson, Camara & Crayton Turnow, Ariana Dupont; brother, Antonio Garza of Chicago; sister, Yolanda Cantu of Bowling Green. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose & Maria; brothers, Jose Cantu, Jr., Roy Cantu; and sisters, Rachel Gonzales & Ofelia Villarreal.

Armando was a graduate of Elmwood High School, and then worked many years at the former Union Carbide in Fostoria. Among many hobbies over the years, he enjoyed gardening, cooking & grilling, yardwork & being outdoors, and his greatest love in life was spending time with his family.

Friends will be received from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio, where a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 1:00 PM.
