Eileen Retzlaff Obituary

Eileen Retzlaff, 89, Oconto, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 at St. Clare Hospital, Oconto Falls. Eileen was born September 4, 1928 in Oconto to the late Herman and Bertha (Delzer) Retzlaff. Eileen graduated from Oconto High School in 1947. She worked for CESA in Gillet for twelve years and then for the Oconto Unified School District as a book keeper for twenty-two years. Eileen was very generous and gave regularly to the Humane Society, Oconto County Historical Society, all Veteran organizations, Shop with a Cop, Bread by the Bay and First American Lutheran. Eileen sold tickets for Oconto High School athletic events for thirty-six years and was awarded The Honorary Blue Devil Award. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, knitting and watching the Packers. Eileen lived in the same home her entire life, until she moved to an assisted living facility this February. Although having no children of her own, Eileen was a loving and generous aunt to three generations of nieces and nephews. She was a life long member of First American Lutheran Church, Oconto, the church quilting club and the Oconto County Historical Society. Eileen is survived by nieces and nephews, Bruce and Cathy Retzlaff, Randy Retzlaff and Kim McDonald, David Retzlaff and Julie Walsh, Scott and Bonnie Retzlaff, Rebecca (Retzlaff) Kelly and Charlie Malarz; great nieces and nephews, Jenna (Eric) Osborn, Emily (fiancee Charles Seymour) Retzlaff, Anna (John) Wendland, Brody Retzlaff, Paul (Allie) Retzlaff, Brad Retzlaff, John (Erin) Kelly and Emily Kelly. She is also survived by many great great nieces and nephews, cousins and her pet dog Molly. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Mahlon “Koke” Retzlaff, Eugene “Butch” Retzlaff and Paul “Bong” Retzlaff. The family will receive relatives and friends at the First American Lutheran Church, Oconto, from 9 to 11 AM Saturday, November 4, 2017. Memorial services will be conducted 11 AM Saturday at the church with the Rev. Mary Zupansic officiating. Burial will at the Evergreen Cemetery.
