Betty Martin Obituary

Betty was born in Sloughhouse California on November 14th 1935. Betty and her twin sister Dottie were born on the Pearson ranch to Andy & Alice Jarred. She is survived by one brother Mathew Jarred and was preceeded in death by brothers Robert Jarred and Wesley Jarred. Betty lived most of her life in Sacramento County and graduated from Rio Vista High School in 1953. She was preceeded in death by her loving husband John A. Martin on March 5th 2003. Together they made a life for themselves getting married in 1955 and enjoyed quarter midget racing with their older children John Jr. & Linda Martin. They also were involved in the livestock industry belonging to the American Angus Association and enjoyed many livestock shows with both thier eldest son John Jr. and their youngest son Christopher. Betty enjoyed the property and home she shared with John in Elk Grove and spent the last 40 plus years living in the Elk Grove area. Betty and John owned several businesses during thier marriage including a Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise, Various Service stations including Shell stations and later a trucking company that hauled everything from freight all over the nation to local sand and gravel trucks. After retirement they both enjoyed fishing on their boat and Betty continued to fish after Johns death and even won 2nd place in the annual Rio Vista Bass Derby. Besides being survived by her three children John Jr., Linda and Christopher she is also survived by the absolute loves of her life her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her grandchildren are Troy Martin (Linda Martin), John Martin III, Candice Martin, James Martin, & Joseph Martin (John Martin Jr. & Sheila), and Ashlie Martin, Kathryn Martin, & Christopher Martin Jr. (Christopher Martin & Tahnee). Her great grandchildren are Kevin Martin, Gianna Martin, Noble Martin, & Troy Martin Jr. (Troy Martin), Faith Northrup, Hope Northrup, & Hunter Northrup (Candice Martin), Chase Martin (Joseph Martin), & Kestrel Martin (John Martin III). Her grandchildren are her legacy. She never missed a game, livestock show, school play or any other event that her grandchildren were involved with. If you ever needed to find Betty all you needed to know was where one of her grandchildren were having a soccer, baseball, 4-H, FFA, or softball game. Betty was a huge supporter of the Elk Grove FFA as well as Elk Grove High School Baseball and Elk Grove High School Softball. Betty will be missed by all who knew her.
