Earlene Newsome Mathews, age 88, of Prestonsburg, KY, wife of Willis Mathews, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 in the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY. She was born June 16, 1928, in Ligon, KY, a daughter of the late Robert & Minnie Belle Henson Newsome. In addition to her husband she is survived by one daughter, Gwendolyn (Ricky) Hamilton, McDowell, KY, two sisters; Lola Mitchell, Versailles, IN, Lula Horn, Prestonsburg, KY, two grandchildren, Richard Glenn Hamilton and Ryan Dwayne Hamilton; five great grandchildren; Savannah Hamilton, Chase Hamilton, Colin Hamilton, Landon Hamilton and Evan Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Judith Lynn Hall,one brother,Town Newsome, and two sisters; Virginia Meade and Ann Read. Funeral Service for Earlene Newsome Mathews will be conducted Tuesday, January 17, 2016 at 12 noon in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Arnold Turner Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, KY, with the Hall Funeral Home caring for those arrangments.
