John C. Dassow

John C. Dassow, age 85 of Stevens Point, died November 29, 2022 at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital.

John was born November 8, 1937 to the late Carl & Gladys (Truttschel) Dassow in Sheboygan, WI. He grew up in the Sheboygan/Sheboygan Falls area and graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1955. John continued his education and attended Lakeland College in Sheboygan and graduated in 1964.

He joined the United States Air Force on March 5, 1957 as a Hydraulic/Pneumatic System Technician. John was honorably discharged March 4, 1963 with a Good Conduct Medal.

John married Nancy Mettelmann July 17, 1965 at Trinity UCC in Brookfield, WI.

John was employed with H.C. Prange Company in Sheboygan, A.C. Nielsen Company in Northbrook, IL, and also with

Mills Fleet Farm in Stevens Point until his retirement in 2002.

John was an avid Green Bay Packer & UWSP Pointer Sports fan. He enjoyed camping, golfing, hiking, furniture

refinishing, & reading. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge; St. Johns in Sheboygan Falls and Evergreen Lodge of Stevens Point. He was an active member at Peace United Church of Christ in Stevens Point committing his time on the

church council, as a Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, singing on the choir, general synod delegate, and

Wisconsin conference delegate.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Stevens Point; sons, Peter (Sarah Koelemay) of Stevens Point and David (Katie) of

Amherst; grandchildren, Aaron, Kaleb, Atticyn, and Korra; sister-in-law, JoAnn (Kolpin) Dassow of Sheboygan Falls,

and numerous nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Carl & Gladys (Truttschel) Dassow; and brother, Richard Dassow.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Peace United Church of Christ, 1756 Dixon

Street, Stevens Point. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 9 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the church and on

Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
