Paul J. Murphy

Paul Murphy, 77 passed away peacefully at Pomeroy Living Nursing Facility, where he was a longtime resident. Even though Paul was legally blind, he loved and played both the organ and piano. His passion was to play hymns on the piano for all the residents. He would be seen in the halls with his walker or on the hall couch with his transistor radio listening to his favorite religious programs.

Paul is survived by his sister, Maggie McKay, nephew, Jeff McKay (Kim), niece, Jill Urraro, niece, Julie Pitser (Jason), step-brother, Jack Slingerland and step-sister, Mary Slingerland. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mervin Murphy and June Van Hala.

There will be a Memorial service Saturday, December 10, 2022 11AM at Grace Baptist Church, 280 E. Lincoln St., Birmingham. A gathering will begin at the church at 10AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Baptist Church in Paul’s memory.
