Graveside Service for Ms. Janice Denning, age 73, of Plain Dealing, LA, will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, December 2, 2022, at the Old Sarepta Cemetery, Sarepta, LA. Interment will follow in Old Sarepta Cemetery, Sarepta, LA under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, 11:45 am - 12:30 pm at Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Jan was born on January 26, 1949 in Savannah, GA and passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022 in Shreveport, LA. Her childhood days were spent in Savannah, then Washington state, and California following her mother’s remarriage. Her stepfather, Arthur, was her whole heart and she was proud to adopt his Jewish faith. She was happiest when allowed to show off her culinary skills when cooking for friends and family, or teaching her young daughters in the kitchen. She was an avid animal lover and classic movie fan as well, but nothing trumped her adoration for Elvis Presley. She was not a stranger to adversity, and demonstrated the willingness to fight up until the very end following a year long battle with cancer.

She is survived by her spouse of  20 years, William M. Shows of Plain Dealing, LA; four daughters, Donna Morgan of Denver, CO, Diana Denning amd Matthew Dion, Jessica Walsh and Michael Edwards, Jenny Walsh and husband Chris Johnson; two brothers, David Ratner and John Brewton; sister, Carol Brewton; three granddaughters, Olivia Hoopes, Katie Hernandez and Coraline Dion; four grandsons, Dalen Ryder, Zachary Hernandez, Arthur Yathirajadasan and Siddant Yathirajadasan and great granddaughter, Eleanore Ryder.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents; Robert Brewton and Doris and Arthur Ratner and  brother, Glenn Ratner.
