Samuel E. Godfrey, age 75, of Seven Valleys, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2022 at his home. He was the loving husband of Darlene D. (Altland) Godfrey; together they shared 53 years of marriage.

Samuel was born in North Codorus Township on April 10, 1947 and was the son of the late James E. Godfrey, Jr. and Esther (Stough) Godfrey. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and worked as a machine operator and mechanic. Samuel enjoyed working on old cars and trucks, sitting on his porch watching the rail trail, and enjoyed time spent at his mountain home for 30 years. He was also a member of the Red Lion VFW and Codorus Church of the Brethren in Loganville.

In addition to his loving wife Darlene, Samuel is survived by his brothers Rodger Godfrey, James E. Godfrey III and wife Robin, Daniel Godfrey and wife Kim, John Godfrey and wife Candace, Paul Godfrey and wife Kim, and Arthur Godfrey and wife Tonya; and his sisters Shirley Brenneman and husband Ralph, Charlotte Smith and husband Gene, and Kathy Yohe and husband Jerry. Samuel is also survived by his 151 nieces and nephews. Samuel was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Jean Godfrey.

A Funeral Service in celebration of Samuel’s life will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 10:00AM at Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., of Spring Grove, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove. He will be laid to rest following the service at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York with military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Viewings will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM and on Saturday from 9:00AM – 10:00AM both at the funeral home.
