Larry W. Stone Obituary

Larry W. Stone, 68, loving husband and devoted father, passed at his home, surrounded by his loving family on November 19, 2022.

Larry was born on September 21, 1954 in Sanford, the son of Herbert and Shirley (Yates) Stone.

Larry was a graduate of Sanford High School in the with the class of 1974. He married his soulmate and best friend, Linda Edgerly in 1978 and they shared 44 years together.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator with Sanford Public Works Department, plowing snow, excavating on road projects, and operating the big sweeper. Larry was a dedicated and talented employee for 45 years and when he retired, he enjoyed working with the Park Department in the summer and plowing snow part time at the Sanford Airport.

Many memories were made at Apache Campground in Sanford where they had a site for several years. Each fall wouldn’t be complete without bringing their camper and staying at the Fryeburg Fair in October. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a huge NASCAR fan, watching the races on television and had many different animals, large and small at their farm, “Stoney Funny Farm.”

He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, helping those in need and spending time with his family and friends. His presence will be missed but our hearts will carry our memories for a lifetime.

Survivors include his wife Linda Stone of Sanford; his two sons: Donny Stone of Sanford and Gary Stone of Waterboro; four grandchildren: Tyler, Brandon, Landon, and Jayce; his siblings: David Stone of Sanford; Brian Stone of Sanford; Linda Demers of Lyman; Dennis Stone of Sanford; Kevin Stone of Lebanon; and Ronnie Stone of Sanford; and many nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held later for his family and friends.
