Obituary

Ronald Allen Rowe, 77, passed away November 28, 2022.

Ronald Allen Rowe was born April 17, 1945 to Earl Zane Rowe and Bernice Allen Rowe in Pocatello, Idaho. He was the oldest of four children. His siblings are Pamela, Shane and Bret. Ronnie—as he was called by friends and family through his formative years—was raised in McCammon, Idaho. He had special relationships with both his paternal and maternal grandparents and spent as much time as he possibly could with them. He met his sweetheart, Ronda Lu Rady, on February 19, 1965 and they were married for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 1, 1966. Ron and Ronda had six children—Shaun, BJ, Todd, Jeni, Boyd and Jodi. They raised their family in the Marsh Valley area--living in McCammon, Hawkins Basin and Arimo.

Ron participated in basketball, track, boxing and football throughout his teen years and in high school, but his true passions were always horses and hunting. He was the first Eagle Scout in McCammon, Idaho, and remained active in scouting for most of his life. After graduating from Marsh Valley High School in 1963, he worked at Coca-Cola and Zweigert’s Meat-Packing plant while working on and completing an Associate’s degree in Drafting and Design from Idaho State University, followed by six years of service in the National Guard. Ron worked at a number of plants and in other capacities to keep putting food on the table throughout his life and especially during times of economic downturn, but he was always a builder/contractor at heart and returned to building for his livelihood at every opportunity. He loved to see a project go literally from the drawing board to the finished product. He was a craftsman that was devoted to details and insisted upon always autographing his work with excellence. Ron also derived great satisfaction from gardening; in their 56 years of marriage, not one passed without planting a very productive garden.

Once Ron established a relationship with God, he never looked back. He served in many capacities in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including several leadership roles. He did not crave attention, however, and he was at his best as a reliable, caring minister/friend and as a quiet, loving father/husband. Whether he was building a house or building the kingdom, Ron always did top quality work but he was much more concerned with function than fanfare. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ and loved serving in the Lord’s Church.

Ron had been healthy and active all his life but was overtaken quite suddenly by brain cancer in recent weeks and passed away from its effects in his home on November 28, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Ronda; his siblings Pamela (Alan) Ranstrom, Shane (LuAnn) Rowe, Bret (Rebecca) Rowe; his children, Shaun (Jodi) Rowe; BJ (Camille) Rowe; Todd (Stacy) Rowe; Jeni (Brett) Crystal; Boyd (Trina) Rowe; and Jodi Espinoza-Millecam; his 25 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
