Carol Ann Halverson “Pleggenkuhle” 82, of Hawkeye, IA passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Unity Point Health-Allen Hospital in Waterloo, IA.

A Celebration of Carol's Life will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at the United Methodist Church in Hawkeye. There will be a luncheon and a time for fellowship at the Church on Saturday following the Celebration of Life.

Carol was born on March 20, 1940, in Hawkeye and was the daughter of Arnold and Elma (West) Pleggenkuhle. She was raised and educated in Hawkeye and graduated from Hawkeye High School. Carol attended Upper Iowa College in Fayette, IA and became a teacher and also an emphasis in art and music.

On August 5, 1962, Carol was united in marriage to Allan John Halverson at Hawkeye United Methodist Church. Two children were born to this union. Together they farmed east of Hawkeye. Carol had many ventures: teaching, worked for several floral shops, a wholesale business, a floral shop of her own for many years, master gardener, and the list goes on.

Carol was a longtime devoted member of the United Methodist Church of Hawkeye and its affiliates. She served her Church in many ways: devoted member, pianist/organist for every Sunday, fellowship snack provider, vocalist, and just an overall steward and supporter of her Church family. She loved being a teacher on many levels and sharing her talents. Carol taught many craft nights/classes, master gardener events, helped host events at Church, etc., even after she had sold her floral business and retired.

Her priorities were faith, family, and community. Carol enjoyed attending as many family gatherings and her grandchildren’s events as she could and always was good to bring a batch of her homemade cookies along. She truly enjoyed and loved her family.

Survivors of Carol include her husband, Allan Halverson of Hawkeye; two children, Susan (Rob) Gudenkauf of Manchester and Jon (Janet) Halverson of Hawkeye; six grandchildren, Wesley (Katie) Gudenkauf of Altoona, Iowa, Hillary (Blake) Barker of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Lyndsey (Alex) Vorwald of Manchester, Iowa, Alex Halverson of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Kian Halverson of Hawkeye, and Clint (Allie) Halverson of Clermont, Iowa; two great-grandchildren, Ashley Gudenkauf (daughter of Wesley and Katie) and Bennett Vorwald (son of Lyndsey and Alex); and her siblings, David Pleggenkuhle of Hawkeye, Iowa and Mary Taylor of Waverly, Iowa.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; brother-in-law, William Taylor; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
