Barbara Gene “Grandma George” Carter, age 69, of Piper, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at her home while surrounded by her loving family. Her family is planning a private visitation from 6-8pm, Wednesday, November 30th at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home.


Barbara was born on July 11, 1953 in Kansas City, Kansas and was the oldest of four children born to Dannie & Barbara (Klasinski) Orrick. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in the Class of 1971. Barbara was working at Providence Medical Center when she met Alan Carter, they were married in 1979 and together made their home in Piper. She took a job at the USDA Actuarial Division as a Computer Systems Analyst retiring in 2020. Barbara loved music, playing the Piano and taught her grandchildren to play Piano. Her other pastimes were reading books, shopping and one she enjoyed most of all, spoiling her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, one brother James Orrick.

Survivors include her husband Alan Carter of the home, Children: Jennifer Taylor and her husband Bobby, Jonathan Carter, Jillian McClain and her husband John. Grandchildren: Jennifer (Brent), Sean (Kela), Breanna (Leo), Mikayla (Bre), Donovan, Danika, Andrew, Callie, Lucian and Ophelia. Great-grandchildren: Sloan, Sadie, Melissa, Malaya and Rayden. Siblings: Daniel Orrick and his wife Linda and Jackie Orrick.
