CLEVELAND -- Amanda Lee Derr (July), age 32, of Cleveland, died unexpectedly Saturday, November 12, 2022, at her home in Cleveland.

Amanda was born on July 16, 1990, in Cleveland, to Thomas F. and Rachel (Fife) Derr, graduated from Olmsted Falls High School in 2008, and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Crafts and a Minor in Social Work from Kent State University 2013.  She worked as a manager of a music entertainment center in Brooklyn, NY for the last year.

Surviving are her parents, Tom and Rachel Derr of Wooster; brother Thomas B. Derr of Boulder, CO; and maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Fife of Wooster.

Soon after graduating from high school Amanda found calling in helping to establish a Food Not Bombs chapter in her neighborhood of Cleveland. Nourishing the homeless and the hungry by gathering an overabundance of unused food from restaurants and bakeries, she organized venues and events to serve prepared meals. In this process she helped mentor younger volunteers to help give meaning and direction to their lives.

After graduating from college, supporting and showcasing musicians and performance artists became a passion. For years she organized events to showcase their talents and help provide meaningful voice. Taking that experience to Brooklyn, New York she became a manager of a music entertainment center. Throughout all that time, she profoundly expressed her own passion and creativity through performance art, visual art and crafting video art performances for a multitude of fundraising platforms, including the Trans Lifeline. Her volunteering passion led her to help provide services for immigrants arriving at court with the Catholic Migration Services, Brooklyn, New York and supporting NARAL- Freedom is for Everybody.

May we all emulate her profound compassion to others, her awareness and aid to all who are underserved and under-represented and help to better this broken world.

She will be deeply missed and always loved and cherished.

She left us all too soon.
