Narendrakumar Bhogilal Shah Obituary

Narendra Bhogilal Shah was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many throughout his life. He passed away peacefully on November 23rd, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Narendra was born on December 4th, 1937 in Jamnagar, India. He married his wife Usha on May 1, 1966 and then moved to Kampala, Uganda and later Lusaka, Zambia, where he had a successful pharmaceutical career. In 1981, he moved his family to the United States to ensure that his children were able to obtain the best education and career opportunities. He and his family settled in Danbury, Connecticut, and his immense sacrifice and diligence to provide for his family demonstrated an extraordinary work ethic that was imparted onto his children and grandchildren.

A commitment to higher education was something that Narendra strongly valued. He attended LM College of Pharmacy, where he graduated with a degree in Pharmacy. Narendra achieved a successful career as a pharmacist working in pharmaceutical manufacturing. His incredible educational and professional accomplishments serve as an inspiration to his family and friends, who aspire to emulate his remarkable work ethic and passion for knowledge and learning.

Narendra had many hobbies and passions that we remember fondly. One of his favorite pastimes was monitoring the stock market, and many often looked to him for his wise trading advice. Argyle sweater vests were his trademark, and family and friends often requested his delicious afternoon tea, which was second to none, and whose recipe was his guarded secret. Narendra was also a doting grandfather and was known for keeping his fridge stocked with all of the food that his grandkids loved, including a wide variety of ice cream flavors. He was a cricket aficionado frequently watching cricket matches, except during the 30 minutes he set aside every night to watch ABC World News Tonight with Usha. He loved to eat all kinds of Indian food, especially anything made by Usha. Narendra was also a colorful storyteller with an infectious and uplifting laugh and an inspiringly optimistic view on life. We will affectionately remember and treasure his joyful, kind, and beautiful soul.

Despite a long and difficult battle with leukemia, Narendra smiled through it all. He had a strong sense of faith that grounded him and inspired those around him. Narendra is survived by his loving wife, Usha, his three children, Sonal Makim (Hiten), Hemal Sheth (Ojas), and Amit Shah (Pooja), his six grandchildren, Samir Makim, Neera Makim, Nikhil Sheth, Sarina Sheth, Anika Shah, and Rishan Shah, and sister Jayaben Patel. Narendra will forever be remembered for his unbelievable strength, incredible generosity, and radiant smile. We will miss him very dearly, but we are so grateful for the time we were able to spend with him. We will seek to follow the example he set for always being compassionate, resilient, and cheerful, and we will draw inspiration from his quest to find happiness in everything he did.

A funeral and wake will be held on November 27th, 2022 from 9am - 10:30am at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services (117 South St, Danbury, CT 06810) followed by a private cremation service.
