He grew up on farms in Minnesota and Iowa attending several schools and graduated in 1958 from Southwest Christian in Edgerton, Minnesota. After graduating high school he worked for a painter, then Lampert Building Center, where he took a course on drafting. He moved on to work for A & A Builders doing construction work. He did many projects for others and was proud to be part of the crew that built the Wayside Chapel along Highway 75 just north of Luverne. On June 29, 1960 Orv married Barbara Bruxvoort in Luverne Christian Reformed Church. Shortly thereafter, they moved to a farm west of Luverne and thus he began his farming career. After moving to a farm near Hardwick and then to Beaver Creek, they purchased their present farm in 1973 and were still living there at the time of his death. Here they raised their three sons and one daughter. In 1979, they purchased the fabric shop, The Sewing Basket, in Luverne. Orv supported Barb in selling and repairing sewing machines. This business brought about many new friendships not only locally but across the country. By attending training sessions and earning sales awards, Orv and Barb were able to do extensive traveling. When Orv turned 65, he chose to lease the land and continue to care for his sheep and rabbits. He also enjoyed working at the Pipestone Livestock Auction on sale days and during planting and harvest time, helping Byron Klaassen with field work. On October 16, 2022, Orv was admitted to the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. On Wednesday, November 23, 2022 Orv passed away peacefully at the Hospice Cottage in Luverne surrounded by his family.</p><p>Orv’s faith and family were a most important part of his life. Orv was an active member of the Luverne Christian Reformed Church, serving as elder and deacon. He also taught Sunday School classes, was a Youth Group leader, and at one time coached the church softball team. He served on the school board of the Southwest Christian High School and the Luverne Christian School Society, as well as president of the Rock County Pork Producers. He truly enjoyed playing softball and bowling on several different leagues throughout the years. His family enjoyed camping with family and friends and visited almost every state park in Minnesota.</p><p>He is survived by his wife, Barb Bork; daughter, Wendelynn Hathaway and her step-sons: Isaac, Eric, Alex, and Owen; son, Nicholas (Annie) and their children: Payton, Hallie, Hendrik, Brynlie, Cambrie, and Deidrik; daughter-in-law, Marci Bork and her children, Jamie and Eric (Kim); daughter-in-law, Mary Bork Sawyer and her children, Tyler Bork, Amanda (Aaron) Nichols, and Ashley Bork; brothers, Wally (Linda) Bork, Harley (Linda) Bork, Don (Marcia) Bork and their children and grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary De Yong; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two adult sons, Douglas and Brian; parents; parents-in-law; two nieces; and most recently, son-in-law, Patrick Hathaway.</p><p><iframe src="https://www.tributeslides.com/videos/embedded_video/F6RMWXG29MFDRFWJ" scrolling="no" allow="autoplay; fullscreen" allowfullscreen="true" class="ts_player" width="512" height="330" frameborder="0"></iframe></p>February 19, 1941 - November 23, 202202/19/194111/23/2022
