Paul Jones Obituary

Paul Edwards Jones was born to Odessa Jones and Louis James Jones on August 27, 1961 at Outer Drive Hospital in Lincoln Park, Michigan. He was the seventh of eight children born from this union. His story began in Ecorse, Michigan where he attended Ralph J Bunch Elementary School, Kennedy Junior High and Ecorse High School. After losing his father at the age of twelve he entered into a rebellious phase, where he found himself in the company of some shady people. However, he did not let that define who he was meant to be and eventually he joined Ecorse High School’s Row Team and like the waves of the Ecorse River he pushed through and graduated from high school.

Upon graduation he took off. In search of a sustainable life he traveled to Toledo, Las Vegas and back to Toledo where he established roots and built a community of everlasting friendships and family. His early years shaped him into a man of integrity who had an infectious personality with a positive energy that exuded through to all of his relationships. It took many odd jobs before he finally discovered his passion as a Truck Driver. This career reignited his love for traveling and experiencing new adventures.

Although raised as a christian, his fervor for black equality and black leadership, lead him to join the Nation of Islam in 1991, where he gained an international brotherhood bond by faith and a mission to resurrect the conditions of the black man and woman. Inspired by leaders like Malcolm X and Minister Farrakhan he walked as they would, connected with his community, was an active member in the mosque, congregated with brothers at the Million Man March, encouraged and helped those in need regardless of color or creed.

Wherever he went he encouraged a good time and could find a joke in any situation. His cowboy hats and boots will be missed at the MTS transportation office, his legacy and laughter will be shared inside the Mosque #91 and his love will forever remain in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to share a life with him. We will love you forever and ever Paul E. Jones! May Allah Be Pleased.

Paul was proceeded in death by his Father Louis; Mother Odessa; his brothers James and Richard. He is survived by his bonus sons, Kenneth Johnson, Joe Harris and Trey Mitchell; Sisters, SJ, Faye, Fanny, and Glenda; Brother Robert; Nieces, La’Sheena (Marshall), Kennikki (Edmund), Stephanie, Tiffany, LaShay, LaSheia; Nephews, Travis and Timothus; Great-nephews, Paris, Palius, Phoenix and Jerrell; Great-niece, Shi;Aanne
