Willie James Watts Obituary

On Sunday, January 2, 2022, Willie James Watts was called home at the age of 95. The world has lost a great son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Willie was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, on February 16, 1926. He eventually relocated to Adrian, Michigan where he worked for General Motors for 32 years before retiring. After moving to Adrian, MI he met Julie Quinn, whom he married and became the step-father to her four children. Willie and Julie shared 49 years together where Willie spoiled Julie and was a nurturing and caring husband, even as his health declined. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for her.

During his 95 years of life, Willie loved his family and was a devoted Christian. He and his family were members of St James Holiness Church (under the late Bishop William James) and later became members of Cornerstone Church up until the time of his passing. He loved to read his Bible and pray with his wife. When he wasn’t reading and praying, you could find Willie fixing things around the house or working on his beloved Cadillac Seville.

Willie is survived by his wife Julie, his children Melinda Watts and Troy Watts, his step-sons: George Scott, Chauncey Quinn and Richie Quinn, his step-daughters: Tracy Quinn and Kandy Quinn. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
