<p>Billie Louise Pierre, 76, of Fort Wayne passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022. Born February 16, 1946, in New York City she was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.&nbsp; </p><p>She graduated from South Side High School in 1964 and received her teaching degree at Purdue University. She gave up teaching to be a stay-at-home Mom. She was president of the PTA and an enthusiastic den mother. Later she pursued her passion for reading while employed at B Dalton Bookstore.&nbsp; </p><p>Her voracious reading was evident in her house that became a library because "throwing away a book is a sin”.&nbsp; She loved to travel but her real talent was in planning and documenting the trips in many, many photo albums.&nbsp; </p><p>She worked for a time for Channel 55 as the community coordinator and called herself "the official bottle cap counter". She volunteered for settlers and "enjoyed" making funnel cakes over an open fire in the rain. She had a personal relationship with the giraffes and goats as a volunteer at the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo. She was artistic, creative, enjoyed bridge, and had a knack for finding the perfect gift. She will be dearly missed.&nbsp;&nbsp; </p><p>Billie was preceded in death by parents, Warren&nbsp;and Betty Burgo. Her surviving family includes husband, David; sons, Father Darren and Mark (Kristen); grandchildren, Ethan, Kate, and JJ; brother, Bob Burgo and Bob's son, Lance and family.<br> &nbsp;<br> Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, with calling one hour prior. Visitation also Monday, November 28, 2022, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery.&nbsp; </p><p>Memorial contributions may be made to Fort Wayne Children's Zoo or Kingston Care - Dupont Rd. </p>
