Ralph Emmett Simon Obituary

Ralph Emmett Simon, 80, of Middleboro passed away peacefully in his home on November 23, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

Ralph leaves behind his beloved wife of 47 years, MaryAnn Bridget (Williams), his adored daughter, Anne Jones, her husband Trevor, and his cherished grandchildren, Lyla and Thea. He also leaves behind his sisters Harriet Grossman and Penny Myers, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Ralph was the proud father of his late son, Sean Emmett Simon.

Born on June 8, 1942 in Newark, New Jersey, son of the late Thomas F. and Mollie (Geiser) Simon, Ralph enlisted in the United States Navy in 1964, serving our country during the Vietnam War and was Honorably Discharged in 1968. Prior to retirement, Ralph worked as a Quality Assurance Specialist in the United States Department of Defense.

He enjoyed Barbershop Singing in New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts, and lived his life with a song in his heart, a little-known history fact to be shared, and a corny joke in his back pocket ready to go. Ralph was a member of the Vintage Automobile Club of New Jersey, where he was a founding member of their museum.

Ralph and MaryAnn moved to Oak Point in Middleboro in 2009, where he was very active in the different clubs and events that the community has to offer. Ralph was a devoted member of the Oak Point Honor Guard, continuing to serve proudly even when health challenges made it difficult. He was also a member of the Oak Point Classic Car Club where he showed off his 1960 DeSoto "Lucky" that he spent countless hours restoring to its original condition. A lifelong baseball enthusiast, in 2012 he volunteered as an Assistant Coach for the Middleboro Little League. He was an avid Yankees and Giants fan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on December 2, 2022 (Friday) at 11 a.m. in Saints Martha & Mary Church, 354 Bedford Street (Route 18) Lakeville.

Memorial contributions may be made to:  Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Plymouth, MA 02360.  The family appreciates the angelic care they provided to Ralph.
