Janice Johnson

<p>Janice Johnson was born in Birmingham, Alabama on June 1, 1950, to the late James and Virginia Johnson. She was fondly called “JJ” by her family. Janice graduated from Hayes High School in Birmingham, Alabama in 1968. She left Birmingham and moved to Jackson, MI where she studied nursing at Jackson College. She continued her nursing education in Toledo. </p><p><br></p><p>She was employed at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Toledo for over 40 years. She was baptized into the Seventh- Day Adventist Church by Pastor E. T. Mims at an early age. While living in Toledo, she joined the Parkwood SDA Church, where Pastor Steven C. Valles remembered she had a favorite seat, and always brought her praise with her.</p><p><br></p><p>Janice loved to knit, and it was her favorite pastime. She created many lovely holiday and baby-shower gifts, which was her labor of love. Giving and keeping in touch with family was natural for her. She never missed sending a birthday, holiday, or special event greeting. Janice loved purchasing gifts for all her family, especially her nieces and nephews. On Christmas Eve, she would travel to Detroit, bringing loads of gifts and holiday cheer. Janice also loved to travel with family and friends. </p><p><br></p><p>JJ will always be remembered for her promptness and dedication to others. She was always engaged in the daily “sister chat” and reached out to the family with a Happy Sabbath Text. Just like her knitting formed wonderful designs, JJ formed an enduring connection of family and friends with a legacy of love and devotion. </p><p><br></p><p>Janice departed this life on Monday, December 13, 2021, in Toledo, Ohio. She leaves to cherish her memory five sisters: Thresya Harris, Wilaudrey Benjamin, Deborah Long (Henry), Dr. Sandra Jemison (Walter), Kathy Johnson; one brother, James Kerry Johnson, one Aunt Fannie Mae Streeter, Fourteen nieces and nephew; Twenty-one Great- nieces and nephews; Twenty-three Great- great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives, caring neighbors, and friends.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Acknowledgement</p><p>The family of the late Janice Johnson wish to express their appreciation for the many kind thoughts and expressions of sympathy conveyed to us, during our time of bereavement. </p><p><br></p><p>The Johnson Family</p>
