Ceadrick Lebaron Rocker

Ceadrick L. Rocker, Jr. 35, passed away Friday, November 27th, 2021 at the Devine Rehabilitation Nursing Center. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Garfield and Fannie Mae Roundtree, paternal grandparents, Frank Howard and Ruth Whitfield, Father, Ceadrick L. Rocker, Sr., brothers, Deadrick and Stephon D. Rocker.

Ceadrick was born in Toledo, Ohio where he attended Pickett Elementary School and was a graduate of Roy C. Start High School. To all of his friends and relatives, Ceadrick was affectionately known as "Man" and "Cuz" by some of his neighborhood "HomeBoys".

Growing up, Ceadrick was a very outgoing and friendly child. Everybody loved Ceadrick. He had the biggest smile that would light up a room. Even though he was stricken with Sickle Cell Anemia from birth, which created a lifelong battle of other health issues, he never let that stop him from trying to live life as vigorously as he could. He was determined to keep up with all of his brothers, sisters and cousins. He loved music and playing video games on his Play Station. He kept up with all the lastest dance moves and never stopped laughing or smiling. He also loved going to church with his sisters and his cousins. His mother always encouraged him about keeping God in his life and talked to him constantly about the Lord. He made up his own mind to walk down the aisle and join St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in 2005. While attending St. Mark, Ceadrick, his sisters and cousins, loved when the choir sanged "I'm So Satisfied". They would sing that song in the car, they would sing that song when they got home from church and all during the week. That song left a long lasting impression on Ceadrick, his sisters and his cousins.

As a young man, Ceadrick worked for 16 years at Lott Industries. He also worked at the Adult Day Hab. His smile was infectious and he was greatly loved by all the staff and other employees at the job. Throughout his young life, Ceadrick, being accompanied by different family members, would attend several sporting events, family get-togethers, party events and even enjoyed taking an occasional trip out-of-town.

For all of Ceadrick's life, his mother kept up with his health issues by taking him to all of his doctors' appointments, making sure he took all of his medications and getting him to the hospital if he got sick and his condition did not improve. Due to his mother "staying on top" of his medical care and treatment, Ceadrick enjoyed several long stretches of "no trips" to the hospital. For several years, Ceadrick enjoyed a normal life for a person that was plagued with so many health issues. During times when Ceadrick was doing well, he loved being outside with the "Big Boys". Ceadrick resisted his mothers' commands to stay close to home. It was a constant struggle. Pam, not wanting to restrain him, prayed and asked God to protect and watch over her son as he ventured through other parts of the neighborhooding streets. Thankfully, the "Big Boys" would tell Ceadrick to go home and on more than one occasion, walked him home to safety.

Ceadrick was always aware of the sickness within his body. One time, while sitting at the table eating breakfast, he asked his mother about getting a dog. She explained several reasons why they did not need a dog. Ceadrick said, "You don't want me to get a dog, but you're gonna NEED a dog". Pam asked "Why Ceadrick, why do I NEED a dog?", and Ceadrick said, "Because I'm sick and I'm gonna die, and you're gonna need a dog cause you're gonna be here by yourself". That statement left Pam in shock but also realizing her son had come to terms with his illness. After a recent hospital stay in ICU, Ceadrick recovered and again, back at the table, Pam let Ceadrick know "People everywhere were praying for you!" Ceadrick said, "I was praying for myself!". Pam asked him, "What did you say?". "I said, God, get me up outta here!" Pam said, "And God heard your prayer". Ceadrick said, "I know who my Father is!". Pam, thinking he was going to say his Dad, Ceadrick said "God is my Father and I love God". Pam knew, at that moment, the love of God within her son had spoken. Pam recalled in a recent dream where she saw Ceadrick and said, "Ooh, look at Ceadrick, walking and dancing through the gates of heaven, no tubes, no nothing".

Recently, Ceadrick's health issues started to catch up with him and caused him to spend longer periods of time in the hospital. This time, the treatment was much more intensive and extreme but Ceadrick fought hard to stay strong and even amazed the doctors and nurses at his resilience to bounce back. After showing some improvement at UTMC, but still needing constant medical care, Ceadrick was moved to the Devine Rehabilitation Nursing Center where, shortly thereafter, he peacefully passed away.

Ceadrick leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Pamela Roundtree, his sisters, Arteasha L. Rocker, Alicia F. Rocker, Maiesha T. Stephens, Tanieka S. Davis, Charmaine S. Guyton, DeElegence S. L. Guyton, Monicque Courtland, Chalisa T. Rocker, and Cednih R. Rocker; brothers, Jermaine Bourn and Deandre' E.L. Gaston, and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him

should not perish, but have everlasting life.
