Darnell Lamar Mitchell, 38, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016. He was born on April 24, 1977, to Henry Mays and Pamela Mitchell. Darnell worked at Flora Landscaping, Russ Car Wash, and Mitchell Wireless for several years. He was a graduate of Scott High School. Darnell had a great sense of humor, loved baking, gambling at the casino, and spending time with family and friends He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leatha and Sylvester Mitchell; father, Henry Mays; brother, Dontae Mitchell; cousin, Sylvester “Lil Man” Mitchell. He leaves to cherish in his memory, mother, Pamela Mitchell; brother, Romario (Britteny) Mitchell, Marquis Walker, Jermine Thorton; sisters, Marquela Mitchell, Shawnda Mitchell-Mays, Lekeisha Mitchell of New York, Latrina Mitchell of California; his sons, Deontae, Dywuan, Dontae, Dayontae, DaMontae Mitchell; his daughter, Taylor Tatum; six nephews; five nieces; one great-niece; special friends, Kimyata Kirkwood, Passion Tate, and Lashanna Honey, and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation is Friday, February 19, 2016, from 4-6 p.m. at House of Day Funeral Home. A wake is scheduled for 9 a.m., with a funeral at 10 a.m. at St. James Armory Church, 3319 Nebraska Ave.
