Isiah Townsend Obituary

Isiah Townsend Sr. passed away Sunday, January 17, 2016, at Promedica Ebeid Center. Isiah was born on January 24, 1926, in Vanndale, Arkansas, to Zelda Doshia Townsend and George Washington Townsend. Isiah was a veteran of WWII. After his service in the Army, he moved to Toledo, OH, where he met his wife, Earlene. Together they had five children. Isiah was a hard worker and held many jobs in his lifetime: Erie Army Depot, Keilermeirs and as a forklift driver for many years, until his retirement from Doehler Jarvis. Isiah was a faithful lifelong Christian member at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. His hobby was working long and hard in his yard. He always had a garden growing with fresh produce. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Earlene Townsend; two brothers and one sister. Isiah is survived by one sister, Mae Brown; daughters, Patricia K. Harris, Juliette (Michael) Lenz; stepdaughter, Janice Snodgrass; sons, Isaiah (Corliss) Townsend Jr., and Deventia (Charlene) Townsend; ten grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Services are 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2016, preceded by wake services at 12:00 noon at St. Paul Baptist Church. Pastor James Willis will officiate. Services entrusted to The House of Day Funeral Service.
