Leo W. Stover Obituary

Leo Wilkes Stover, age 87, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Marion General Hospital. Leo was one of eleven siblings and was born on September 1, 1935, in West Virginia to the late Henry and Bertha (Mays) Stover. He married Vernelle (Long) Stover on May 19, 1958, and they were blessed with 44 years of marriage which included 2 sons and 3 grandchildren. Vernelle preceded him in death in February, 2002. Leo was blessed a few years later with a second marriage to Christine Stover, who passed away in October, 2011.

Leo spent his entire work career as a lineman for Marion Rural Electric Cooperative. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outside, especially spending time with his many siblings and family members at the Stover family property in West Virginia.

He is survived by his sons, Kevin (AnnaMarie) of Troy, Ohio, and Keith (Cathy) of Richmond Hill, Georgia. He loved his 3 grandchildren, Ian Stover of California, and Kyle Stover and Allison Stover, both of Richmond Hill, Georgia. Leo’s surviving siblings are Frank Stover, Alvin (Dixie) Stover, Mervin Stover, Mike (Jennifer) Stover, Helen Dyer, Mildred Johnson, and Annie Hinton. Leo is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding Leo in death were siblings Ernest Stover, Connie (Stover) Persinger, and Jerolene Wolfe.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Marion General Hospital for their excellent care of Leo during his final days.

Boyd Funeral Home in Marion will be handling the funeral arrangements.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Boyd Funeral Home. Services will take place on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 1 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Green Camp Cemetery.
