Angus James Brown Obituary

Angus J. Brown (Brother Brown), 69, went home to be with the lord on Friday, September 7, 2012, with his family by his side at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.

He was born May 17, 1943, in Rison Arkansas. Angus graduated in 1961 from Edward Drummond Libbey High School where he played football and made 1st team all-city in his position as linebacker.

Angus honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1961-1965 and earned a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Karate while stationed in Korea.

He earned his Associate’s Degree in Business Management and Administration from Davis Junior College in 1976 and worked for over 30 years at Ford Motor Company with the majority of his tenure spent in supervision at the Maumee, Ohio Stamping plant , retiring in 1997.

Angus loved fishing and was a member of the Toledo Ohio “REEL” Fishing Club, serving as club treasurer at the time of his death. Angus was also an active member of the “Breakfast Club” at Rocket Cafe where he thoroughly enjoyed the company, conversation, comradery, and tall-tales of his fellow club members and was nicknamed the “Coach”. He loved sports, and was an ardent supporter of The Ohio State Buckeyes football team.

Angus was very devoted to his family and spending time with them gave him his greatest joy; he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as “Papa”.

Angus represented many things to many people; husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin. Grandfather, devoted friend, mentor, coach, and provider. He will be forever remembered for his infectious smile, his laugh, his curmudgeon like tendencies, his focused determination, and his endearing personality.

Angus was preceded in death by his parents Darcel Bailey, AJ Brown, and Lee Bailey Sr.; sisters, Nina Creque, Carla Jo and Kim Renee Bailey.

He leaves a devoted and loving family including his wife Ruth Ann; son, Michael Brown; daughters, Spring Lawson, Michelle, Colette, and Suzanne Brown; brothers, Charles (Alfreda), Gene, Jeff, Michael (Carmella), Jerome (Cheryl), and Lee Bailey Jr.; sisters, Loretta Gant and Denise (Larry) McCoy; first best friend, James “Shorty” Goings, six grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexis, Olyvia, Gavyn, Bobby Jo, Halliyah; and other relatives and friends.

Special thanks to the staff at Toledo Central Dialysis Center and the nurses at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center’s first floor intensive care unit.
