Glenton Davis

<p>Rev. Davis was born in West Indees Jamaica in 1922 and even as a young child participated in church activties with his family there. When he grew older he was drafted into the English Royal Airforce while in Jamaica to serve in WWII over in England. Rev Davis was a prestigous “Air Gunner” and was decorated for his service and acknoledged by the Royal Airforce for his outstanding career. While in the Royal Airforce he became a Chaplin and went to Clergy school there in England and later migrated to New York City. Once out of the service he became a truck driver and obtained his US Citizenship in Maryland. One of his main routes as a truck driver led him into Toledo where he met Donzella Mayson and later got married and had their first child the late- “Anthony Wayne Davis”. Shortly after marrying Donzella he decided to make Toledo Ohio his new home and started working at “Acklin Stampling” on Nebraska as a “Part Inspector”. Holding true to his passion of preaching and teaching the word, Rev Davis decided after extensive searching to make Calvary Baptist Church his new church home for his new family. There his talents was discovered and along with his popularity, helped established him as Calvary’s new assistant Pastor under Rev L.H. Newsom. He was head of of the Sunday School Department and one of the Main overseers of the Vacation Bible school during the summers. Shortly after the death of Donzella Davis, Rev Davis joined Friendship Baptist Church and from his popularity at Calvary later became one of the primary assistant pastors there. Rev Davis started to develop the early stages of dementia in early 2000-2002 when his son’s Anthony and “Terry” decided that the best course of action was for him to reside in a nursing home. After Anthony’s untimely death “Terry” was able to find him a resting place at “Fairview Nursing. Rev Davis was a resident there from Jul 2002 until his death 31 Jul 2012. Rev. Glenton Davis, 85 passed away July 31, 2012 at Fairview Skilled Nursing Home. He retired from Ackland Stamping in Toledo OH. Rev. Davis was also the assistant pastor of Calvary Baptist Church under the late Pastor L.H. Newsom, and an assistant pastor of Friendship Baptist Church under Bishop Duane C. Tisdale. He is survived by son, Glenn Davis and a host of friends</p>
