Lisa Marie Jones Obituary

Lisa Marie Jones, 48, made her heavenly transition on April 11, 2012, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born on July 6, 1963 to the union of James Crawford Mathis and Irma Mae McNary-Mathis. Lisa attended Toledo Public Schools, graduating in 1981 from Macomber-Whitney Vocational Technical School. She attended the University of Toledo, receiving degrees in both sales and Marketing and Business.

Lisa was batized in Jesus' name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost at 9 years old. She was a life long member of Bethel Apostolic Temple. Over the years serving as a devoted choir member, Praise and Worship Leader, various capacities within the Youth Department, Assistant Church Secretary, Assistant Church Treasurer and eventually, the Church Treasurer. Lisa filled in wherever she was needed, there was no job too large or too small for her.

Lisa was a phenomenal woman of God! Her love encompassed many. Most of us sitting here today would like to believe that we were the "special" family member or friend, however she was not a respector of persons. She loved us all with all of our unique ways. She was one who would go the extra mile in order that she might assist you. Lisa was one of the founding members of the Gospel Group, The Prodigals and continued to minister up until her illness overtook her. Lisa was an anointed Psalmist who never considered her gift to be extra ordinary, however, it was! That voice opened doors for her, to minister with some of the world's Gospel Greats, (i.e. The Winans, Kim Burrell, Vaness Bell, Tramaine Hawkins, Thomas Whitfield and so many others).

Lisa was the youngest daugter and the "darling" of her family and so she was at Bethel. Her loving generous ways will be missed.Lisa met and married Waynard Jones in 1987, and to this union, four children were born, Whitney Monique, Wendolyn Marie, Wellsley Michelle and Waynard Keith Jones, Jr.

Lisa co-founded two groups which were very dear to her, Teens of Today,a mentoring program for young women and Y.O.T.R.A. (Youth on the Road Again), which sponsored a not for profit organization which provides travel and opportunities to youth and families.

Lisa was preceded in death by her parents and her elder sister, Jamie Neal. She leaves to cherish with fond memories, her husband, Elder Waynard, Sr.; children, Whitney, Wendolyn, Wellsley, and Waynard, Jr.; brothers, James, Dennis (Rita), Jerome (Carla), Eric (Josie)and Alan (Fran) Mathis; sisters, Paula and Celeste Mathis and Eva Williams; mother-in-law, Betty Mae Jones (the late Earl Jones) brothers-in-law, Robert, Larry and Duncan (Carla); sisters-in-law, Betty Ruth, Carol, Kim and Carlisa Jones, an innumerable amount of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many, many, kind and loving friends. Lisa's impact upon the lives of us all will be sorely missed! That beautiful voice has been transferred to Glory, to sing with the Angels.
