Pastor Reverend Ronald Anthony McCraney, was born October 27, 1961, and is a native of Akron, Ohio. Son of the late Pastor Ronert J.R. McCraney, Sr., (former Pastor/Founder of Greater Temple M.B. Church of Akron, Ohio and Pastor of Shiloh M.B. Church of Toledo, Ohio) and Mattie McCraney-Bennett, who resides in Jackson, Tennessee. From this union, five children were born; Pastor McCraney is the fourth child.


Pastor McCraney, graduated from Buchtel High School in Akron, Ohio, in 1985, he attended Bishop College in Dallas, Texas, where his major was Theology with a minor in Sociology. Later, he also obtained Journeyman status as an Ironworker with Local 55, in Toledo, Ohio. In June of 1993, Pastor McCraney united in holy matrimony to Angela Darrington-McCraney. They were blessed with twin daughters, Kayla and Kambrea.


Pastor McCraney is a descendant of ministers; his grandfather, father, and two brother, Pastor David Cecil McCraney, (Ebenezer Second Baptist Church, Cincinnati, Ohio) and Pastor Robert McCraney, Jr., of Birmingham, Alabama, all ministered the gospel. On April 22, 1984, Pastor McCraney's father, the Rev. Robert Jr.R. McCraney,Sr., Pastor of Shiloh M.B. Church, licensed his son to preach the gospel, on this day, Pastor McCraney became an ordained Minister.


In 1996, Pastor McCraney, began pastoring at Greater St. Mary's Missionary Baptist Church. In March of 2002, he was led by the Spirit of God to give birth to Rhema Word Christian Fellowship Ministry. By God's grace and under the leadership of Pastor McCraney, theministry experienced tremendous growth, seeing numerous lives transformed by the power of God.


Pastor McCraney was preceded in death by father, Robert McCraney, Sr.,and step father, Major Bennett.


He is survived by wife, Angela Renee Darrington-McCraney; children, Ronald Johnson, John Wiggins, Mia Carter, Kayla and Kambrea McCraney of Toledo, OH; mother, Mattie Mae Bennett (Jackson, Tennesse); brothers, James (Dorthea) of GA, Johnny of GA, Robert of AL, David (Lisa) of OH, and Daryl McCraney of TN; sisters, Mary Durrah of MI, Patricia Riley of AL, Sharon Wheeler of OH, Valeria Walker of GA and Kathleen Derrico of GA; 10 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.


The family would like to extend a special thank you to the University of Toledo Medical Center, The Pharmacy Department at UTMC, Hospice of Nortwest Ohio, Foundation Park Alzheimers Care Center, The Cleveland Clinic, Toledo Christian School, Naveah Salon, and Rhema Word Christian Fellowship Church. We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to all of the churches in the City of Toledo for your thoughts, prayers and concerns. Thank you to the caregivers that took care of Pastor McCraney while I had to work… Special Thank you Lester Darrington, Essence Scott, Murna Gregory, Raven Riley, Vera Davis, Mother Davis. Special thank you for EVERYONE taking care of the kids….also to the BEAUTIFUL Ladies who kept my house in order, you know who you are, love you all…Valerie Robinson, we are going to be alright, love you! Final thanks to the House of Day for doing a fantastic job during this time of bereavement.



Viewing will be held on Friday, February 3, 2012, from 10:00am - 4:00pm, at the House of Day Funeral Service.


Visitation will be held on Friday February 3, 2012, at Rhema Word from 6:00pm-8:00pm.


Services will be held Saturday 10:00am wake 11:00am service at Rhema Word Christian Fellowship.
