George M. Newton

<p>George Michael Newton was born July 26, 1944, in Toledo, Ohio to Rose and Robert Newton. He made his transition on November 8, 2009, at Ebeid Hospice of Flower Hospital. George was a graduate of Scott High School and received his bachelor of science degree at U.T. George was All City First Team in basketball at Scott High School in 1963 averaging 15 points and 6 rebounds per game. He retired from General Mills after 20 years, and served as a substitute teacher at various high schools in the city. George was an avid lover of music and loved to talk and wear suits. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose (Newton) Stewart and Robert Newton. He leaves to cherish the love of his life, Joyce Johnson; son, Marc (Becky) Williams and 2 granddaughters, Hayley, Jenna Williams; daughter, Aniea Newton, both of Toledo, Ohio; brother, Robert (Angella) Newton; step father, Wilmer Stewart; sisters, Debra Neal and Beverly Ramsey, Toledo, OH, Diane (Johnny) Green, Ontario, CA; brothers, Gary (Karen) Stewart, W. Palm Beach, FL, Myron (Sandra) Stewart, Toledo, OH, Dwight Stewart, Cleveland, OH and Chris (Kim) Stewart, Toledo, OH; close friends, Jerome Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be Friday, November 13, 2009, 12:00 noon, at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, 1401 Hoag St., preceded by wake service at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to House of Day Funeral Service. Officiant will be Rev. Raymond Bishop.</p>
