Harriet "Jean" Spielman

<b>Seward - Harriett "Jean" Spielman, 71, of Seward, died early Sunday morning, September 3, 2006, in her home, lovingly surrounded by her family and friends, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Born September 10, 1934, in Rockford, the daughter of Arthur and Thelma (Turkington) Mills. She graduated from West High School in 1952. Jean married Lynn Spielman on June 12, 1954, in Messiah Lutheran Church, Rockford. She was an Avon representative for a number of years. Jean was an active member of Seward Congregational Church, having served on several of its boards and committees along with its Women's Fellowship. She was a member of a Bunko Club, Red Hat Society and a 50-year card club member. Jean loved to shop, but her pride and joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Special thanks to the staff of OSF Cancer Center, Dr. Richard Nora and Northern Illinois Hospice.</b> Jean is lovingly survived by her husband, Lynn Spielman of Seward, daughters, Kim (Terry) Reed of Winnebago and Jill (Jeff) Viel of Pecatonica, grandchildren, Adam Reed of Rockford, Kelly Reed of Winnebago and Collin and Ryan Viel of Pecatonica, great-granddaughter, Jordyn Mae Wogomon of Winnebago, father, Arthur Mills of Pecatonica, sister, Shirley Frantz Bawinkel of Pecatonica, brother-in-law, Tom (Dorothy) Spielman of North Fort Myers, Fla., sister-in-law, Yvonne "Bonnie" Turnquist of East Grand Rapids, Mich., special cousins, Mondy (John) Carlson of Elgin and Kay (Bob) Thinnes of Portland, Ore. and two aunts, nieces, nephews and several other cousins. Jean was predeceased by her mother, Thelma Mills on January 29, 2003. <b>Funeral Information</b> Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2006, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago. Service is at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2006, in Seward Congregational Church, Seward, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time; the Rev. Ronald C. Farb and the Rev. Tom Frantz of Blissfield Baptist Church, Michigan, will co-officiate. Burial in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery, in Pecatonica.
